Greetings,
Lehan Drugs is proud to provide customized, compounded medications for our patients. As the only remaining full-service independent pharmacy in DeKalb County, the demand for compounded medications has now grown to exceed the capacity in our compounding lab within Lehan Drugs at the DeKalb Clinic. As a result, we will be moving our compounding practice in order to continue to meet the needs of our patients and prescribers. Over the next few months, we will transition our specialty compounding practice into our larger, state of the art compounding facility: Lehan’s Rock Valley Compounding Pharmacy in Rockford, IL.
While the physical location of our compounding lab will be merging with our lab in Rockford, you will still be able to pick up your medications, typically within 1 business day, at any Lehan's location in DeKalb, Sycamore, or Rockford. In addition, our pharmacy staff will still be available to answer your questions regarding your medications at any of our three locations.
We are excited to expand our customized medication offerings in the community and appreciate your understanding as we make this transition.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email.
Best Regards,
|

What is compounding?
Prescription compounding is when a Lehan's pharmacist, working closely with the patient and physician, prepares a "customized" medication in our state-of-the-art compounding laboratory, using the latest techniques and equipment. Our Lehan's pharmacists are here to help solve problems and make sure you and your loved ones get the medicine you need, when you need it.
Why compounding?
Compounded medications help our patients receive the type of personalized care they deserve. By working closely with physicians and patients, compounding allows our patients to achieve maximum benefit from their medications.
Who benefits from compounding?
You'd be surprised what compounded medications can do for your health. You may benefit from compounding if:
-
You are allergic to preservatives or dyes
-
You need medication in a strength unavailable from traditional drug manufacturers
-
You need help improving the flavor of your medicine
-
You are interested in a medicine that isn't available from a traditional drug manufacturer
-
You would prefer to treat certain painful conditions with creams or gels, instead of pills
-
You could benefit from an alternate method of taking your medicine, such as - topical transdermal creams and gels: sublingual tablets, or dissolving troches - flavored lollipops - medicated lip balms - customized capsules - suppositories - oral flavored suspensions and solutions - and much more
